We’re big fans of using koozies to keep your hands dry and your drinks cool. The Nite Ize SlapLit LED Drink Wrap, though, goes beyond those basic insulating duties by adding a light that makes it easy to find your drink when you’re in a crowded party at night.
That’s right, you can now decorate your drink with a LED light, so people can better see you while you’re chugging your sixth beer of the night, all while making your drink stand out when you leave it on a table to go to the bathroom because you just had your sixth beer of the night. Will it make your beer taste better? Probably not. It will, however, make it all that much harder to lose your drink when you’re drinking with a large crowd all drinking the same brand of brew.
The Nite Ize SlapLit LED Drink Wrap is a neoprene fabric that measures 9 inches long, allowing it to fit around any single-serve can, bottle, or reusable cup. According to the outfit, the fabric is insulating, so it should put up an effective barrier between your hand and the drinking vessel, saving your palms from condensation while keeping your drink cold for just that much longer (probably not as long as one of the thicker koozies out there, though). At first, we thought it uses Velcro (or similar material) to affix the wrap around the drink. Turns out, that was severely unimaginative.
Instead, the wrap comes with two spring steel bands that run underneath the length of the fabric. When wrapping around a can or bottle, those steel bands actually coil around the material, creating a snug fit and a secure hold that ensures it stays on your drink the whole time. The backside also uses a non-slip fabric to add extra reinforcement to make sure the wrap holds its place even when the can is dripping after plucking straight out of the cooler. Do note, those spring bands mean you can’t quite fold this and tuck it in a pocket, so you’ll have to carry it rolled up like a regular koozie when not in use.
The Nite Ize SlapLit LED Drink Wrap, of course, sets itself apart by adding a LED strip underneath the fabric, allowing you to make the semi-reflective neoprene surface light up at the push of a button. The light comes in either glow or flash settings, so you can make it pulse on and off, in case you want to annoy people drinking on the same table as you, while an onboard CR2032 battery should keep the light going for up to 100 hours of runtime. And yes, the battery can be replaced when you need a fresh cell, so you can keep using this until the LEDs conk out.
The Nite Ize SlapLit LED Drink Wrap is available in five designs. We particularly like the blue wrap and the American flag variants, as the fabric colors seem to make the light appear just that much brighter.
