We all know what modern bicycle helmets look like. Sadly, they’re not pretty. Thousand is looking to change that with their Heritage Collection Helmets, a cycling helmet styled after vintage motorcycle headwear.

Billed as “vintage moto meets modern minimal,” it takes on a retro half helmet styling that should make for a more suitable headwear for commuters and leisure riders. Simply put, it looks a whole lot better than those teardrop-shaped, aerodynamic designs with vents all over the place that are better suited for competitive cyclists.

The Thousand Heritage Collection Helmet combines the retro styling with modern safety elements, ensuring it meets both CSPC and EN1078 standards. While it veers away from the busy vents of traditional cycling helmets, it does come with cooling facilities, as they integrate three vents on top and four around the back, along with three internal cooling channels that run from front to back. It comes in three sizes, along with two sets of interior padding, to ensure you get a comfortable fit.

Unlike other helmets that you’ll need to bring with you after getting off the bike, it comes with a facility that lets you hang the helmet on your bike lock, with a promise to provide a replacement if it’s ever successfully stolen. Features include a rubberized matte finish, a moto trim, vegetan leather straps, and a magnetic locking system for securing the headwear with one hand.

Available in three colors, the Thousand Heritage Collection Helmet is priced at $80.
