It’s not the easiest on the eyes, but the latest version of the Lapierre Aerostorm DRS is the kind of bicycle you want to be riding when speed is of the utmost importance. Built for time trials, it promises the best combination of handling, braking, and drag reduction to help maximize your efforts when every second counts.

Built with just one goal in mind, speed, the redesigned bike boasts a more aggressive racing geometry, an incredibly light weight, and highly-improved aerodynamics for breezing through the roads at blazing speeds. It’s already been road-tested last autumn by road racers Steve Morabito and Thibaut Pinot to excellent results, with its first competition scheduled for next month’s Etoile de Besseges.

The latest iteration of Lapierre’s Aerostorm DRS has a sized-down frame with a longer top tube, a steeper seat angle, and a longer wheelbase, with a custom-made central pulling brake. For aerodynamics, it uses airfoil profile tubes, a fully integrated cockpit (frame, fork, stem, handlebar), and a brake placement that aligns with the frame to further help reduce drag. Features include advanced carbon construction, 30 percent stronger rear triangle stiffness, a lower center of gravity courtesy of the new trap door for the Di2 battery, a special guide in the seat tube for easier maintenance, an adjustable saddle position, and three different stem lengths. Oh yeah, it weighs just 17.8 pounds for a size M, making for one of the lightest time trial bikes available today.

No pricing yet, but the Lapierre Aerostorm DRS will hit stores in Fall 2016.
